"I consider being an actress, as one of the best things that ever happened to me in my life. Some think that they become actors by merely playing a small role in a film but what is important is whether the role you play brings satisfaction of mind. This can only be achieved by the skills and talents that each individual possesses.  I am happy that I have achieved this satisfaction of mind. Perseverance is also an important ingredient. It is a difficult task to keep the popularity continuously especially in a country like ours. Acting has not only being my career but it has also brought light to my life"

"I have broken the barriers of orthodox upbringing to become a star, and I am enjoying my celebrity status. I am a firm believer that we must paint on a larger canvas than what most people do,"

"At the age of 16 my parents wanted me to get married. The groom to be was an engineer from UK. But instead I did my O’levels, I contested in a beauty pageant & won the crown and also acted in three movies. All this happened in my sweet sixteen ….."

"Within a short space of time popularity was chasing after me, and directors were offering me different roles in films. All the leading directors knew my thespian capabilities. Although my first film to be screened was Lassana Kella, I faced the camera for the first time when K. A. W. Perera was shooting Wasana (1976)."

"My disposition is placid and innocent; like the elephant I do not know my own strength. I am well fortified with worldly possessions. But, I know all that is transient. I'd love to take risks. That is why within four years of my entry to cinema I got married because I wanted to be a wife as well as a mother. Motherhood is the greatest achievement for a woman....."

“Our people’s definitions of a commercial film and an artistic films are not logical. A good artistic film is also commercially vital. Thus they automatically become commercial flicks. But presently no one is interested in watching  so-called artistic films. So they say that the people do not like to see artistic films. But I don’t belive in that. If the film is sensible any artistic film should attract crowds. “Palama Yata” and “Loku Duwa are such films.

"Cinema is a beautiful thing. I can't understand why they are showing women in an ugly manner. Those certain realistic movies have ruined the beauty of our women. There should be beauty in films so that more people would be attracted to it."
